Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding legal agreement between you and Palvelope (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account or using the Palvelope website, iOS app, or Android app (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Palvelope. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

Description of Service

Palvelope is a pen-pal messaging platform. We match users one-to-one based on shared interests, writing-pace preferences, and other signals you provide, then enable you to exchange messages with the people we match you with.

The core messaging features of Palvelope are free. We may introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will clearly identify them and ask for your consent before charging you.

Account Responsibilities

You agree to the following responsibilities for your account:

• Maintain the security of your account credentials and any device used to access the Service.
• Provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.
• Maintain only one account per person.
• Not impersonate any other person, group, organization, or fictional character.
• Notify us promptly at safety@palvelope.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Acceptable Use

You may not use Palvelope to:

• Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users.
• Send spam, chain messages, or unsolicited bulk content.
• Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to access or interact with the Service.
• Share content that is illegal under the laws that apply to you.
• Attempt to extract another user’s real name, address, phone number, financial information, or other personal information without their consent.
• Solicit money, gifts, or financial favors from other users.
• Share, request, or distribute sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes or endangers minors in any way.
• Use AI tools to generate the majority of messages you send to other users. Palvelope is built around authentic human connection, and using AI to write the bulk of your correspondence is a violation of that purpose.
• Probe, scan, or attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service.
• Use the Service to violate any other person’s rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.

We may, in our reasonable judgment, determine that conduct violates these Terms even if it is not specifically listed above.

Content

You retain ownership of the content you create on Palvelope, including the text of your messages and your profile information. We do not claim ownership of your content.

By posting or sending content through the Service, you grant Palvelope a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and improving the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except to the extent that the content has been shared with another user who has not deleted it from their copy.

You are solely responsible for the content you share. You represent that you have the rights necessary to share it and that the content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.

Safety and Reporting

Every Palvelope user can block another user or report a conversation that violates these Terms. We review reports promptly and may take action including warning, suspending, or terminating the reported account.

We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts for any violation of these Terms, with or without prior notice.

To report abuse, harm, or anything urgent, contact safety@palvelope.com. If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

Privacy

Your use of Palvelope is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

We are not responsible for the conduct or content of users on the Service, and we are not liable for interactions between users that occur outside of Palvelope. Palvelope is not a background-check service; we do not verify the identity of users.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or any other intangible loss, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Palvelope, its operators, and its agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use or misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or that your continued use of the Service poses a risk to other users or to Palvelope.

Termination of your account does not affect any rights or obligations that have already accrued, including our right to pursue any claims arising from your prior conduct.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section limits the rights of users in jurisdictions where local law mandates a different forum or governing law for consumer agreements.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
